Billy Budd - Fall 2009 : The St. Benedict’s Drama Guild staged “Billy Budd,” adapted from the Herman Melville novel by Louis Coxe and Robert Chapman, from Nov. 19th through the 22nd. There was a Reunion for St. Benedict’s Drama Guild/Summer Theater following the Nov. 21 performance that honored Frank S. Torok, the founding director of the school’s modern drama program in 1961. Torok, who, after his St. Benedict’s years as an inspiring teacher and director, began a long career with the Yale Drama School. The reunion drew a good crowd from the graduating classes of the mid-60’s, including three men who had principal roles in the original school production of “Billy Budd” in 1962 – Dr. Bob Lahita, Clay Ogorzaly and Gerry Hahn, each a member of the Class of ’63. Lend Me A Tenor - Spring 2009 : The Drama Guild’s production of “Lend Me a Tenor,” under the direction of Patricia Flynn, was held in Colin Auditorium March 19-22. The student actors/cast members, included Casey Hauck in the role of "Maggie," Roger Rose and Jerome Burwell as "Max," Leonard Clark as "Saunders," Aaron Walker and Justin Cruz as "Tito," Winner Okorie as "Maria," Amir Lasure and Steven Edwards and the "Bellhop," Miriam Amaechi as "Diana," and Chloe Tanis as "Julie."
The behind-the-scenes crew was aided by Travis Lands, Poduction Stage Mgr. and Master Carpenter; Steven Edwards, Stage Mgr.; Hasahn Conway, Asst. Stage Mgr.; Dan Krusznis, Lighboard; Paul Rejouis, Sound; Josdanson Exume, Deck Mgr.; Nolan Edmonson, Props Master; Justin Cruz and Jerome Burwell, Publicity and Program; and Gabriel Drouett, Set Construction. The painting and electric were handled by Armand Arnaldy, Samad Bishop, Josdanson Exume, Jordan Hardy, Chardwin Jean-Baptiste, Karl Marshall-Brown, Paul Rejouis, David Santana, David Suazo, Travis Lands, Matiku Makori, Keyonte Lee, Jonah Berkley and Jaysean Fleming.
