Communion Breakfast 2012
St. Benedict’s Annual Alumni Communion Breakfast was held Sunday, March 18. The event began at 9 a.m. with a Mass in St. Mary's Church before ceremonies move to St. Benedict's cafeteria, where Lorraine Elias, longtime English and religion teacher, was named an Honorary Alumna, math teacher and former assistant basketball and golf coach, Joe Sokolewicz, was honored as the Honorary Alumnus, Ivan Lamourt ’82, Assistant Headmaster and Director of Counseling, was bestowed with the Distinguished Teacher Award, and Richard Zellars, M.D. ’82, Professor of Radiation Oncology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, was named year’s Distinguished Alumnus. Lamourt and Dr. Zellars each became emotional during their respective speeches after accepting their awards from Fr. Edwin. Elias gave an impassioned speech about the school she's been part of since the early 80s, while Sokolewicz thanked his family, friends and the St. Benedict’s community for such a prestigious honor. The entire event is sponsored and hosted each year by St. Benedict’s Alumni Association.
