Gray Bee Golf Outing 2016
St. Benedict’s Alumni and Friends Golf Outing took place for the fourth straight year at the Spring Lake Golf Club on Oct. 4. Although the postponement of the event from Sept. 19 forced some of the golfers to withdraw, we still had 60 players on the course for the best-ball tournament. The team of alumnus Bill Frese '66 and partners, Gary Cavallo, John Misko, and Brian Stellar won first-place with a score of 61. Coming in second with a 63 (match of cards) was the tandem of Teddy Durkin '96, Chauncey Durkin '71, Arif Welcher '96 and Hunter Farinhas '18. Third-place was secured with a 63 by Vin Albanito, Frank Albanito, Jim Heim and Jim Walsh.
Closest to the Hole winners were Ted Jakubowski '65 (men) and Pat Abrahamson (women). The Longest Drive competition was won by Jim Duerbig '67 (men) and Pat Abrahamson (women). The Straightest Drive claimants were Jim Scheik '65 (men) and Susan Wright-Kali (women). The Beat the Bee winner was Hank Ziobro '70, who flew in from North Carolina on the morning of the event.
